[문화] 명곡은 살아있다 10편 - Wasted Time : Skid Row

Skidrow의 I Remember You를 전편에서 다루어 봤습니다. I Remember You가 떠오르면 저는 개인적으로 같이 떠 오르는 노래가 있습니다. 바로 Wates Time입니다. 살짝 옛스럽기는 하지만, 너무 촌스럽지 않은 매력이 넘치는 노래입니다. 기타 독주나 바흐의 애절한 목소리가 심금을 울리는 노래이기도 합니다. 노래를 듣기 전에, 저번 글에 이어 Skid Row의 나머지 행보를 알아보겠습니다. 명곡은 살아있다 9편을 참조하시면 좋을 것 같습니다. 1998년 발매된 베스트 앨범 40 Seasons 발매와 신곡 2곡이 나오면서 스키드 로우의 복귀설이 나오기도 했습니다. 그러나 이 2곡은 1,2집 레코딩을 했다가 보류된 곡으로 알려지게 되었습니다. 2003년 새로운 보컬 죠니 솔링거를 데리고 오면서 4집 앨범을 발표 하였습니다. 하지만 역시나 팬들은 '세바스찬 바하가 없이는 스키드 로우는 존재하지 않는다'라고 외칠 뿐, 3집보다 더 크게 실패를 하게 되었습니다. 참고로 멤버들이 대체로 그럭저럭 괜찮은 외모의 소유자이긴 하지만 키 190cm가 넘는 장신의 보컬 세바츠찬 바흐의 뛰어난 꽃미모로 락공연장에 소녀팬들을 양산시키기도 했습니다. 이는 당시의 팝 메탈(글램 메탈) 장르적인 특징이랄수 있는게 이 당시 인기있던 헤비메탈 밴드들의 보컬들은 죄다 미남이었습니다. 우리나라에서도 이들의 외모로 인해 메탈을 좋아하는 소녀팬들이 상당수 존재했었습니다. 사실, 메탈이 이 당시만 하더라도 약간 매니악틱한 장르라는 걸 감안했었을 때, 대단한 사실임에는 틀림없습니다. 본조비의 보컬 존 본조비,건즈앤 로지스의 액슬로즈 모두 꽃미남 계통입니다. 현재 스키드 로우는 콘서트 공연만 하고 5집 앨범은 발표하지 않고 있습니다. 한국에서의 콘서트 공연은 2013인천펜타포트락페스티벌에서 하였습니다. 한국에서 잘 알려진 곡은 I Remember You, 18 And Life, Youth Gone Wild, Monkey Business, Forever, Wasted Time 등이 있습니다.
